Scripture: John 15:17; & 21 "If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and He shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you forever; Even the Spirit of Truth, whom the world cannot receive because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him; but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. ... He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."
Let not your heart be troubled, is what we are told in the very first line of this Chapter, John 14. Our JESUS was uttering these words of sweet comfort to HIS band of grieving
disciples. They were sorrowful because HE began to impress upon them, HE had to go away and prepare a place for them; was and all believers in HIM. HE spoke to them with more of an urgency, but encouraged them further into his sermon. In verses John 15-17; and John 21-24, among others, HE assured HIS disciples, that those who love HIM, should be faithful to HIM and keep HIS commandments.
Members in CHRIST, given our present-day "worldy environment" it is challenging -- extremely challenging for the believer to obey the commandments. First and foremost, our adversary, as he is described, is constantly stalking the child of GOD. We are warned, "Be sober, be vigilant, because your adversarey the devil, as a roaring lion walketh about seeking whom he may devour." 1Peter 5:8.
Our JESUS knew we would be under relentless attack by this arch enemy, and for this reason HE reminded us in John 10:11
"I am the good SHEPHERD: the good shepherd giveth his life for sheep." He constantly reminded us, HE is it that truly loves mankind and our eternalty is of utmost concern to HIM. That enemy who persist in stealing the believers joy and salvation, "cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life," JESUS promises, "and have it more abundantly." So, HE encourages, keep my commandments. Obey my laws and adhere to principles of Kingdom living, so heaven would be the home of the saved.
Yes, HE had to return to his heavenly, glorious stature from whence HE had come. But, HE did not leave without providing another advocate, whom HE called, "The Comforter". He made request of the FATHER to send to earth Another COMFORTER, so HIS "little flock" as HE at times called us, would not be comfortless. Only those who believe, though, can receive of this comfort -- this loving and caring gift of the HOLY SPIRIT. For HE, this SPIRIT OF TRUTH, can only abide in a heart of truth, a believing faith-filled heart. Only those who are prepared to believe and receive the TRUTH can receive HIM. The believer that hath HIS commandments and keepeth them, then, says HE, that believer loves HIM. And, HE has promised thus, this believer shall forever be in HIS presence: for HE shall love him, the believer; and the believer shall in turn be loved by HIS FATHER; and HE CHRIST JESUS, will in turn not only love that precious soul, but will "manifest:reveal" HIMSELF to that believing saint. Precious promises, are what these are called -- encouraging conditions for a believer to be in the presence of the LORD JESUS CHRIST. To believe, to obey to trust, to be faithful, to be GOD-fearing is to love HIM: is to keep HIS words/commandments; and for being true to HIM, another precious promise HE made is this: the SON OF GOD and the GODHEAD (FATHER) HIMSELF will come and abide in you, the believer.
I encourage you today, trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in JESUS, except you trust and obey. HIS love for us, in this chapter is very, very evident, brethren. Let us love HIM too and believe in all HIS PRECIOUS PROMISES!!!
And; this is my prayer for all believers!!!
